Dr. Simone Francescato is an experimental particle physicist and postdoctoral fellow at the LPPC, working with Prof. Huth in the ATLAS Collaboration.

Dr. Francescato began his career in ATLAS in 2017 at the University of Rome La Sapienza, where he earned his Master's degree and PhD, researching physics beyond the Standard Model in high-energy di-jet final states. During this time, he also contributed to the ATLAS Phase-II RPC Level-0 trigger upgrade, developing fast machine learning algorithms for FPGA implementation. After spending a year as an INFN-CERN fellow in Geneva, he joined the Harvard ATLAS group in 2021 as a postdoctoral fellow. There, he contributed to the development of the ATLAS Phase-I NSW Level-0 trigger, now fully integrated into the ATLAS experiment.
He is particularly interested in the complexity of QCD and machine learning-based solutions for trigger and reconstruction.

Growing up in a small seaside town in Italy, he has a deep passion for water sports and outdoor activities.
